A 60% performance improvement
Now that’s good news!
The Brief
GastechNews.com is the flagship and the mouthpiece of the gas industry. This is where the gas industry movers and shakers come to check out the latest news, find new suppliers and soak up views and opinions from the industry’s top minds. They can even bolster their CV with events, conferences and training, or rewrite it with a new job.
The site had to accommodate all social media tools and be enticing enough for users to want to comment on news, network with each other and share their own goings-on. The portal had to include the current directory of suppliers and allow advertisers to list and upgrade their listing. Advertising opportunities, a video option and payment processing were also required. Everything, in fact, except a little bell over the door.
The team
Building the website
Some web designers jump straight to the coding without stopping at the wireframes. That’s like looking for North Sea gas before you’ve built the platform, to use a relevant analogy. We used wireframes to maximise the user experience and plumped for WordPress for its SEO qualities and easy-to-use publishing.
Website design
We reckon a news site should look like a news site. (We’re smart like that.) The aim of our redesign was to display news articles in an attractive way, encourage repeat visits, decrease bounce rate and increase page views.
Results
We’d love to say that the sheer beauty of this site and the ringing praise of our good friends at Gastechnews.com were reward enough. But importantly, we also improved every possible site metric by at least 60% and the client asked us for three more websites on the back of this one. It feels good to be loved.
