No Ordinary site - No Ordinary Business
Parallax website on WordPress

We love working with demanding, go-getting clients. It brings out the best in us. Perhaps we’re equally demanding. When multi-platform app developer and augmented-reality expert MarxentLabs asked us for a new website, we asked some key questions, like: ‘What on Earth is augmented reality?’

The Brief

The client was looking for an independent Wordpress design and development team who could create a visual statement that would bring new leads and offered a market-leading, forward-thinking look and feel.

We had to deliver a complete redesigned and tested, functional site within time, scope and budget, and provide a design that ‘wows’ while meeting business objectives and delivering on functionality. They wanted a WordPress development that’s cleaner and crisper than their current CMS. We were also to provide expertise in implementing Google Analytics and user-tracking software. Phew. No pressure, then.

Target Audience

Identifying target markets helps you find opportunities and focus on the audience who are actually interested in what you offer. This can save time and money.

Building the Website

We worked using a SCRUM process, in other words, using agile, iterative development. We used weekly development, delivery and review cycles, offering weekly and daily updates to the client that demonstrated our progress and allowed for immediate feedback. We started with wireframes and prototypes and, once the user experience got the thumbs up, we moved on to the design stage.

Website Design

Marxent are no ordinary business. So they need no ordinary website. After they’d confused us with augmented reality, we raised the stakes with a spot of parallax scrolling. This involves the site background moving more slowly than the foreground, to create a 3D effect when you scroll down the page. We tied together the structure of the content, animations and WordPress integration to carry this unique user experience. Parallax scrolling supports the structure of the content and encourages users to delve deeper into the case studies and service offering.

Mobile Website Design

With numbers of Internet users accessing the Web through smartphones and iPads increasing, we created standalone mobile and optimised iPad versions of the site.

The entire website is content-managed through WordPress (even the text in the parallax part). This makes updating super-easy.

In the current digital age, a website is the most important sales and marketing tool, and Marxent's site is no different. As top dog in augmented reality, mobile app development and retail technology, the company needed to make a statement. Their new website does just that. Optimised for mobile devices and using amazing parallax effects, it communicates their leading position perfectly. The client was thrilled with our work and regularly pops back to Moove for updates and improvements based on user behaviour, and to back up their marketing plans.
